How renting an exotic car works, explained

Everything a first-timer settles between the first search and handing the keys back: who rents these cars, whether you qualify, what to bring, how a booking is made and changed, and the rules of use.

Renting a Lamborghini is not renting a Corolla with more zeros. The car is one physical thing with one calendar; the person who signs for it is the person who drives it; and the questions that decide whether the day happens are settled before anyone sees the keys — age and licence, the card the hold goes on, who else may drive, when the car reaches you and how it comes back. This hub is that sequence, in order.

Two things are worth knowing on the way in. First, the house that owns the car and the broker that lists it are different businesses, and the difference shows up at the handover — a chain sells a category, a boutique sells a car. Second, the rules that matter are short and the same for everyone: they are on the FAQ, and the ones a booking depends on are in the rental terms you accept when you pay.

The pieces below are the articles that answer each part, and whether renting an exotic car is worth it is the one to settle before them.

Frequently asked questions

How does renting an exotic car in Los Angeles work?

Nizo Luxury runs it in four steps — +1 (424) 303-6496: choose the car on its own page, where the rate and the calendar are; pay the rental online or by phone; show your licence and a credit card in your own name at the handover, where the refundable hold is placed; and drive. The car is brought to your hotel or your home, or collected at no charge from our office on Robertson Boulevard, and the fleet runs from $102 to $2,500 a day.

What is the minimum age to rent an exotic car in Los Angeles?

21. Drivers under 25 pay a young-driver fee of $50 a day, or $175 a day on the exotics and flagships. A driver of 18 to 20 with their own full-coverage insurance and a larger security deposit is considered on approval — ring before you book.

Can I book online, or do I have to call?

Either. On a car with a live calendar, choose the dates on its page and pay online — the rental, the Protection plan and the sales tax — and the booking is confirmed there and then. The cars that go out on request, and anything for tomorrow morning, are quicker by phone: the car and the total come back in writing before you pay. There is no notice period; once a booking is paid, a car that is free can be on its way to you in about an hour.
